Read Psalm 104:24 and Proverbs 3:13-20.
Without wisdom, life is difficult. The Bible says God created all he did with wisdom. The foundation of the earth was established with wisdom. So, King Solomon prayed for wisdom. If Solomon ruled over one nation and thought it required wisdom, then Apostle, who is going to rule over a hundred nations, needs it even the more. Sometimes the issues you face are such that you don’t even know how to go about them but with the wisdom of God you are able to unravel it.
What is wisdom?
There are a number of terms used in the Bible in place of wisdom. Some are knowledge, understanding, counsel, interpretation, revelation, secrets, truth, discernment, judgement, and learning. These words describe wisdom but I have also discovered that wisdom is the application of the word of God to solve life’s problems. Others say wisdom is the application of knowledge. It is the ability to do the right thing at the right time. It is the ability to be at the right place at the right time. It is the ability to say the words at the right time. It is the ability to make the right decisions at the right time. It is also the ability to get what you need when you need it.
There are three types of wisdom
These are demonic wisdom, earthly wisdom, and godly wisdom. Demonic wisdom is not good. Earthly wisdom can be refined by godly wisdom. Men’s wisdom is acquired through the process of learning and experience. Men’s wisdom and knowledge have limited value. Man may be able to find a solution to a problem but in the process may create other problems. Thus, he may won’t be able to solve all the problems of life.
Why we need the wisdom of God
Read Proverbs 4:7-9.
Wisdom is the principal thing. If we have the wisdom of God, we will make the right decisions. We will say the right words and do the right things. Proverbs 3:13 says blessed is the man who finds wisdom. Wisdom brings honor. When a man or woman who has wisdom speaks, people can see that he has wisdom and that brings him respect. It doesn’t matter whether he is educated or not.
The wisdom of God brings riches and even saves lives while the lack of wisdom leads to poverty. Wisdom gives you future hope. A man with the wisdom of God will have protection and long life. No matter the circumstances of life, a man with wisdom thrives. He has peace and is free from worries, fears, and doubt. He will walk in safety and his foot shall not stumble. When he lies down, he won’t be afraid. His sleep shall be sweet. He will be promoted and exalted in all life’s situations. He will build his house on the rock. He will also win souls—many people will follow someone who is wise. The Bible says wisdom is better than silver and gold (Proverbs 3:14).
The steps to receiving wisdom
The Bible says if anyone lacks wisdom he should ask of God so wisdom is of God. The Bible also says Christ is the wisdom of God. Therefore, to have wisdom is to acknowledge the lordship of Christ and to acknowledge God.
We also get wisdom by studying the word of God and obeying it (2 Timothy 3:15). We get wisdom by fearing God; by the anointing of the Holy Spirit; by desiring it like Solomon did; by believing that you will have that wisdom; by shunning evil.
The benefits of wisdom
Read Proverbs 8:11-15.
In Acts 6:3 they wanted people who would distribute food and the requirements were that they should be full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom. In the same way, in whatever you are doing, you need wisdom to make progress.
Wisdom grants us the ability to understand the problems and situations people are facing; wisdom also leads us into the secrets of God; it gives us the ability to give counsel; it gives the ability to interpret difficult things, dreams, and visions; it gives the ability to discern hidden things; it gives the ability to give right judgement; it gives the ability to speak the right words as right time; it gives the ability to answer many questions; it gives the ability to get whatever we need; it enables us receive all the blessings God has for us; it helps us get God’s blessings, including salvation and eternal life; it helps us to discern God’s will and fulfill his purpose; it helps us obey the word of God; it helps us discern the move the Holy Spirit; it helps us to have the mind of Christ; it helps us understand how God operates, that is, his spiritual laws, that we might deal properly with him.
May God grant us wisdom for whatever task he has assigned us and may he give our apostle wisdom to govern the 110 or so nations over which he is going to preside.
